SAAFhouse Services

• The SAAFhouse Spay-Neuter Clinic is located at 1600 North Washington Avenue in Springfield, one block north of Division and six blocks west of National. View Map. 

• Days and hours of operation: Tuesday – Friday, 7:30 am – 5 pm

• To make an appointment, call between 8:30 AM and 4:00 PM.  Appointments must be made by telephone. Prepayment is required to schedule an appointment for all surgeries except feral cats (read more info about feral cats here). Payment can be made over the phone with a credit card or in person with cash Tue-Fri 8:30 AM - 4:00 pm. No checks accepted.  Already have an appointment?  Click here for more info.

• Drop off time for dogs is 7:45 am.  Pick-up time is 4:30 the same day.  Drop-off time for cats is 8:15 am.  Pick-up time is 7:30 the next day.  All animals go home the same day on the last workday of the week.  

• Each animal receives two types of pain medication and a small ink tattoo on the abdomen to identify that it has been altered.  

• Rabies shots are included in the surgery fee and are required for all animals over the age of 3 months.  If your pet is current on its rabies shot, the certificate must be provided at the time of drop off. 

• In addition to spay/neuter, the clinic provides vaccines but only at the time of surgery.  These include rabies and combo vaccines plus feline leukemia and bordatella (kennel cough).  Medical testing is also available for heartworm and feline leukemia.  Please note that SAAFhouse is not a full-service veterinary clinic.
• Due to overwhelming demand, SAAF holds off-site rabies vaccination clinics twice a year (May and October).  These are held on Saturdays and the cost is $10.  When the date has been set for a rabies clinic, it will be announced on our homepage.
